Carbohydrates’ role in the management of diabetes is a confusing topic for many. While there is no doubt carbohydrates directly affect blood glucose levels, there is much debate around the ideal amounts and types of carbohydrates that should be eaten by people with diabetes. Many people with diabetes look to alter their carbohydrate or sugar intake as a way of managing their diabetes but may lack the understanding about the important role carbohydrates play in the long-term management of their health.
